ASOC WORKGROUP DETAILS

 PASTEL EXPLORERS  Mondays 9:30 am to 1:30pm

A workgroup for all budding or experienced pastellists.  Participants will be free to choose their own subject matter or to work from a common theme selected by the group.  We will also use the opportunity to combine pastel with other media.   This is an opportunity to really play with this exciting painting tool, and to learn why those who already love pastel become so passionate about it. For all information contact Jenny Robbins on 02 62901948 or EMail jlrartist@grapevine.com.au

ABSTRACT EXPRESSIONISM: Mondays 1.30pm to 5.30pm 

Create vibrant and unusual artworks using non-traditional methods where you allow your image to emerge and develop from spontaneous, incidental interactions of marks and media. Anyone interested in exploring and sharing these concepts is most welcome to join this workgroup, where the emphasis is on inclusiveness and respect for many different ideas. This is a space where you allow your creativity to dominate without being constrained by previous learnings. It's a place to explore with freedom and abandonment.

PORTRAIT & LIFE DRAWING  Tuesdays  10.00am-1.00pm

This workgroup has its focus on portraits, and life drawing and painting. Working with the human figure and face could be considered the best and most challenging way of developing and refining your ability to see.  In any medium, and for any skill level.   Members may attend on a casual basis (if there is room left in the group) which will alternate between weeks of portrait and the nude.  Cost is the regular $2, plus $7 for portrait or $10 for life model.    Contact Maureen Lawrentin if you are interested:  maureen.lawrentin@gmail.com   or 6254-4179 (evenings best).

FUN WITH PRINTMAKING Tuesdays 1.30-4.30pm

FLORA & FAUNA Thursdays 1.00pm-4.00pm
Our group welcomes members who like to draw/paint any kind of animal, bird etc, and any kind of flora.   So if you like to draw or paint any of these, in any medium, please join us.  We might have some excursions to the National Botanic Gardens, the birdpark at Gold Creek, Black Mountain for orchids, the Zoo and elsewhere at times.  If you are interested in joining this group please contact Vivien Pinder 6242 9699 or vpinder@homemail.com.au.

ABSTRACT AND EXPERIMENTAL  Fridays 10.00am-3.00pm
Open to all beginners and experienced artists with a spirit of adventure.  The idea is to support and encourage each other as we explore, in any medium, style or subject, contemporary and post modern painting.  We will be experimenting and borrowing from or questioning the traditional, breaking the rules, following intuition and generally having fun.   Members will not have to stay all day: we are allowing five hours so we can really get into the mess making and still enjoy a leisurely lunch chatting about our ideas and works in progress.   If you are interested in joining this group please contact Patricia Wheatstone, 6248 8006 or 0401 916 113 or tricia.su@webone.com.au.

SATURDAY SESSIONS   Saturdays 1.30-4.30 pm
For all members of all skill levels.  This group is aimed at artists who have limited free time and will appreciate the time, space and support from fellow artists to follow their artistic passions. This is a very flexible group, so bring along whatever medium suits you, and work on whatever subject you like!  Occasionally we will use this time to paint out in the landscape (weather permitting).
