More details
:
This year there will be a gap of a week between the end of the exhibition at Floriade and the opening of the ASOC Spring Exhibition. It will be a condition of acceptance into the MCAP that works are displayed at Floriade, then collected by the artist and delivered to the Spring Exhibition the following week.
We have 2 judges for the MCAP this year and the judging will be held in conjunction with the ASOC Spring Exhibition on 1st Oct.
The announcement of the winners and the awarding of prizes will take place at the opening of the Spring Exhibition.
We are NOT allowed to sell paintings at Floriade; I strongly suggest that artists have their cards/flyers available at Floriade for the ASOC staff on duty to pass onto prospective buyers. We will be handing out flyers re. ASOC’s Spring Exhibition where they can purchase works.
Setup will take place on Thursday 16 September after hours from 6.00pm, to be ready for display on the Friday 17 September.
Pack up will take place on Friday 24 September at 2.00pm. Paintings can be stored in the annex area ready for collection 7.00am - 8.30am Saturday 25 September.

The Molonglo Catchment Art Prize Exhibition is a collaborative display generated through a close working relationship between the Molonglo Catchment Group and the Artists Society of Canberra.
This exhibition will be staged in the ActewAGL Look ‘n’ learn Marquee at Floraide from Friday 17th September until Friday 24th September 2010. Running concurrently will be a range of landcare and environmental exhibits and activities as well as painting demonstrations.
The Molonglo Catchment Group was established in 2003 to provide a community focus and support network for those individuals, community groups and businesses that live and work within the Molonglo Catchment area. Their aim is to inform, develop understandings and enable the community to achieve sustainable use and management of their environment.
More information about the MCG can be found on their website:

This exhibition provides the opportunity for artists from the Artists Society of Canberra to showcase their artistic interpretations of the Molonglo Catchment area. They can draw on the beauty of the natural environment, the current and historical uses of the land, the built environment, the recreational facilities or the less tangible “Spirit of the Molonglo” as their artistic inspiration.
All the paintings on display at Floriade will also be on display at the ASOC Spring Exhibition at the Wesley Centre, Forrest from Friday 1st until Monday 4th October 2010, where they will be for sale. The Spring Exhibition will be opened by Genevieve Jacobs from 666ABC Radio at 6 for 6.30 on Friday 1st October.
The judging and awarding of prizes will be on the opening night of the Spring Exhibition. The prizes for this exhibition have been generously donated by local businesses and community groups around Canberra.
