Lesley Wallington
FULL - Waiting List Only
Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 October 2011 9am to 4pm Suitable for all levels of experience

Lesley is famous for her collages and paintings of birds, flowers and Japanese art. This short course will teach basic gouache painting techniques and how to create collage grounds with a variety of paper.
Using the themes of flowers, fruit, birds and Japanese Art we will aim to work on 2 paintings. Saturday (Day 1). In the morning we will create 2 collage grounds on stretched watercolour paper (half sheets or full sheets if you are keen). Paper is sealed with binder medium and matt medium is used to apply the collage material in a way to complement the theme.
The afternoon we will spend learning about gouache as a medium and ways to apply it to collage grounds. We will draw up the subjects of our paintings ready to transfer to the prepared grounds.
Sunday (Day 2): Transferring drawings to collage grounds and painting with the aim of completing the 2 works.
Over the weekend Lesley will provide information and demonstrations and will work with individuals as requested. She will provide a full materials list and is available for advice and assistance in this regard before the class.

"I have drawn and painted most of my life and my background in Science, Biology and Ecology has fostered a great love and respect for the natural world.
I have studied watercolour painting, life drawing, landscape and portrait painting at the Canberra Institute of the Arts and Botanical Illustration with private teachers.
My work is in pencil, water media, gouache and collage and my subjects are wildlife, plants and patterns in nature. I am particularly interested in the microscopic structure of living things.
In my paintings I hope to illustrate the astounding diversity and beauty of life on Earth, on the land, in the air and under the sea."
