There were over 400 quality paintings on display - in different mediums, styles and subjects.
The opening, by Robyn Archer, on Wednesday 19th September drew a huge crowd. Robyn Archer is an inspiring speaker, highly
acclaimed and awarded singer, writer, director, public advocate of the
Arts and Arts & Health Foundation Ambassador. She is also the
organiser for Canberra 100 and inspired the audience with the arts
events that will be held in Canberra's 100th year.
The Albert Hall, which is the same age as ASOC, provided the ambience and a great venue for the celebration of ASOC's 85th Birthday on the Sunday afternoon. This was attended by members and invited guests, including four past presidents. Joan Costanzo gave those present a great insight into ASOC's history and the work being undertaken by the History Sub-Committee.
The exhibition committee, led by Jacquie Rogers, has to be congratulated for a job that exceeded the well done status. For Awards and prizes Click Here To see photos of the Opening Night Click Here. For photos of paintings and the exhibition Click Here |
